State Bank appoints Pradeep Kumar as MD

With Kumar's elevation to the board of SBI, all positions of managing directors (four) have been filled

State Bank of India, the country’s largest lender, has appointed P Pradeep Kumar as one of its managing directors. Kumar will be in-charge of corporate banking, a portfolio he was handling in his previous stint as deputy managing director.

With Kumar’s elevation to the board of SBI, all positions of managing directors (four) have been filled.

Kumar took charge on Friday after the government issued a notification, SBI said on Sunday. He will occupy the post till the end of October 2015.

The other three managing directors are K Krishna Kumar (national banking), Hemant Contractor (global banking) and A Vishwanathan (subsidiaries and associates).

All three are slated to retire in 2014-15.

The charge of chief financial officer (CFO) will continue to be held by Deputy Managing Director R K Saraf. Prior to her elevation as chairperson, Arundhati Bhattacharya was CFO and managing director.

Diwakar Gupta, who retired in July this year as managing director, was also holding the charge of CFO.

The top management at SBI consists of a chairman, four managing directors, over a dozen deputy managing directors and about 35 chief general managers.
