Suryapur Co-op Bank director held

 Parmar was one of the six absconding directors of the bank and is the prime accused in the Rs 44 crore loan scam involving the bank, police said.

 Parmar was arrested by the detection of crime branch (DCB) of Surat Police from Ashaktashram Hospital, police said. Parmar was arrested after he was discharged from the hospital in the Rampura area where he was undergoing treatment for a paralytic stroke, police said.

 The DCB, which is investigating the Suryapur Bank scam, was looking for Parmar for the last eight months.

 The other accused, including the managing director Babu Gamit and the founder-chairman Kanaksinh Mangrola, are still at large, police said.

 Parmar suffered a paralytic stroke a couple of months ago and had undergone treatment at the Balasinor Hospital in central Gujarat and another hospital in Anand, police said.
