Public sector Syndicate Bank is planning to step up its branch network to 2001 including a branch in London by the end of this year, a top official of the bank said.

"The bank has already got clearance from RBI for opening new branches and licence has been sought by the bank for 40 more branches," said N Kantha Kumar, the bank's chairman and managing director (CMD) at the launch of a new ATM and e-banking facility here yesterday.

He said by the end of the current financial year, Syndicate Bank would bring 500 branches under it's e-banking network which would be increased to 750 by the next financial year. The bank also plans to upgrade 40 extension counters as full-fledged branches, he said.
