US mkts end higher, Wipro gains 3%

Major US indices ended with sharp gains yesterday following the slippage in oil prices after rising above the $49 a barrel in early trades. While Dow Jones advanced 71 points to close at 10,629, the Nasdaq was up 18 points at 2,106.

Indian ADRs larely finished with gains. Wipro jumped 3% to $21.83, and Satyam was up a per cent at $22.24. Infosys, however, ended a per cent lower at $63.33

ICICI Bank gained 2.59% to $19 and HDFC Bank was marginally up at $42.17. While Dr. Reddy's lost 1.43% to $17.24, VSNL was down a per cent at $9.85.
