Western Union Financial Services Inc, which provides consumer money transfer services internationally, today opened its new Middle East headquarters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Disclosing this, Western Union marketing manager (India) Cedric Dias said, "The new facility in Dubai Internet city will serve as the hub for Western Union's activities in Middle East and South Asia region, including UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and India."
The Dubai office was officially opened in a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, by Western Union International president William Thomas and Dubai Internet City chief executive officer Ahmad Bin Byat, he added.

The Western Union money transfer service has been available in the Middle East for the past six years. The decision to set up the Middle East headquarters in Dubai Internet City was driven by the rapid growth of business witnessed by the company during the last few years.
The total money transfer transactions in the region in 2001 grew by 63 per cent, Dias elaborated.
