Surat Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria, said, "The World Bank team will first visit Kutch-Bhuj and take stock of the massive rehabilitation projects undertaken in the area in the aftermath of the earthquake in January 2001 and arrive in Surat on July 5." |
"Surat has made tremendous progress in urban development, infrastructure, reforms and e-governance," Aloria said. |
"The World Bank plans to invest $150 million in various urban developmental projects in Gujarat. Surat Municipal Corporation had taken various loans for infrastructure development in Surat from the World Bank in the past, but we have no plans to take any more loans in the near future. The visit of the World Bank team is to get an idea about the progress made by Surat," said the municipal commissioner. |
