At at time when numerous graduates are eagerly waiting for the SBI PO recruitment to be released, big changes in SBI PO exam structure have been introduced silently. The PO exam pattern has been changed with tests to run for 3 hours & time limit on each section.
This modification is to be implemented from the next PO recruitment itself, which is a welcome move.
SBI PO Mains New Pattern
With lakhs of applicants for few thousand jobs, SBI has a huge task of filtering the right candidates from a large talent pool.
Now even more fine tuning has been done to make sure only the worthy persons are shortlisted for PO (officer) jobs.
Hereafter, the SBI PO Mains will be held in the following structure:
- Objective Tests for 200 marks
- Fixed time limit for each section
- Descriptive paper for 25 marks
- Both tests to be online only.
The duration of objective tests has been increased to 3 hours & will consist of 4 sections for a total of 200 marks.
The Descriptive paper shall be for 25 marks (30 minutes).It would contain questions such as letter writing & essay, that should also be answered on computer only.
Your marks in descriptive test will also be taken for final selection. Therefore the total for SBI PO mains examination will be 225 marks.
No Changes in Prelims Exam
The preliminary examination consists of objective tests in 3 sections for 100 marks. There is no change in the prelims test pattern.

The marks obtained in the preliminary exams (Phase-I) will not be added for final selection.But candidates need to qualify in the prelims as well to get shortlisted for the main examination.
