Amending IPC and CRPC to Deal with Racial Attacks on People of Ne

On the basis of the Bezbaruah Committee recommendations, a proposal to amend the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to deal more sternly with racial attacks against people from the North-Eastern region (NER) has been referred to the Legislative Department of Ministry of Law and Justice. No time line has been fixed as the matter involves legislative process.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary in a written reply to a question by Shri Majeed Memon in the Rajya Sabha today.
