Animal Husbandry and Industry Minister of Manipur Meets Union Agriculture Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh

Animal Husbandry and Industry Minister of Manipur, Shri K. Govind Das met Union Minister of Agriculture Shri Radha Mohan Singh here today. During the discussions he raised issues concerning the State of Manipur, which included provisions of quarantine/trade facility at Morch across Myanmar border, expediting a proposal for setting up farm for pigs at Churachandpur and surveillance facility for disease control in animals. He also raised the issue of conservation of breed of pony specific to Manipur for Polio sport, which is nearing extinction. He mentioned that a proposal has already been sent to Ministry for providing assistance in this regard. Shri Radha Mohan Singh assured him that necessary technical assistance for surveillance for disease control in animals and proposals for release of funds would be expedited.
