Avian Ifluenza in Uttar Pradesh- a status report

An outbreak of Avian Influenza was notified on 13th March, 2015 at epicenter Sari ka Purva, Block Shukul Bazar, District Amethi of Uttar Pradesh and the State started the control and containment operation as per Action Plan on 14.03.2015 by carrying out culling, mopping, cleaning and disinfection in a one km radius of epicenter.

The operation was over on 18.03.2015 and the State issued the sanitization certificates for the said epicenter on 18-03-2015. During the operation, 844 birds were culled while 187 had died out of a population of 1031 birds in 1 km. radius. The Department has issued the Post Operation Surveillance Plan (POSP) on 19.03.2015 which will be continued for a period of three months from the date of issue of sanitization certificate.

The outbreak has also been notified to World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 18.03.2015.
