Camp for Distribution of AIDS and Assistive Devices for Persons with Disabilites held at Nellore

The Central government is committed towards Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the country. Standing by the commitment towards empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) a Camp for free of cost distribution of assistive aids and assistive devices was held in the historical city of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh on 1st June, 2015. The Camp was organized by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur working under Department Of Empowerment Of Persons With Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Swarna Bharat Trust, Venkatachalam in association with District Administration, Nellore.

A total of 1090 Persons with various disabilities were provided with aids and assistive devices by ALIMCO valuing more than Rs.1.00 crore under the ADIP scheme of Government of India in the camp. These beneficiaries were pre-identified during the assessment camps conducted in Nellore district from 25th to 28th May, 2015.

The event with a huge gathering of over two thousand people was attended by, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri M. Venkaiyah Naidu as the Chief Guest and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot, presided over the event accompanied by special guests Dr. P Narayana, Minister of Municipal Administration, Urban Planning and Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh in the presence of Ms. Deepa Venkat of Swarna Bharat Trust, Venkatachalam, Nellore.

High quality Aids and Assistive devices were distributed in the camp manufactured by ALIMCO which included the new innovative product like battery operated Motorized Tricycle, Smart cane, Daisy Player and Laptop for Visually Impaired and ADL Kits for persons suffering from leprosy.
