To monitor the relief work in Srinagar, Civil Aviation Ministry has established a control room. Besides, all organisations have been directed to submit daily report to Shri Alok Chaturvedi, Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. A status note on the relief/assistance provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to victim of J&K flood is given below:-
Till date 35014 passengers have been lifted by airlines.
114 tonnes relief material transported including medicine and food materials.
500 portable mobile chargers delivered.
Three free of cost STD booths established.
24 hours DG sets for uninterrupted power backup.
Provided night shelter facilities to passengers.
Provision of storage of relief aids materials.
Free landing & parking facilities to airlines.
Ensured full functional aids at airports.
Air India stationed two aircrafts for lifting the passengers and patients free of cost.
All private airlines/NSOP have been requested to assist in relief work by providing possible assistance in the form of operating special flights from J&K to stranded pilgrims, sick and injured, requiring immediate medical attention.
Air India has deployed their doctors in flood affected areas for providing all possible assistance to the victims.
No cancellation charges are charged from the pilgrims due to floods.
Air India has arranged for transporting food packets and medicines from different parts of the country to Srinagar free of cost.
Airports Authority has established help desks at Srinagar and Jammu Airports.
AAI under its corporate social responsibility is providing portable mobile chargers to the relief personnel of J&K in coordination with the State Govt. machinery.
Assistance is being provided to the passengers reaching at airports. Water bottles and snacks are being provided to the passengers.
Satellite phones are being provided to assist relief work. Airports Authority has provided storage space for relief material and food at Srinagar Airport.
Staff of Ministry of Civil Aviation, attached offices and PSUs have contributed one days salary to Prime Ministers Relief Fund. Contribution of AAI is Rs. 3 crore on this account.
Airport operators and airlines have been advised to request their staff to contribute one days salary.
With the efforts of Airports Authority all flight operations from Srinagar Airports, J&K and Leh airports are normal despite adverse conditions in the J&K Region.
Four helicopters have already been deployed.
Five more helicopters are also kept in ready position for deployment in emergent situation.
Ministry officials are in constant touch with State machinery for providing all possible assistance.
Additional flights were arranged for evacuation of flood victims in Leh most of whom were children.
