The first meeting of the Consultative Committee for the year 2014-15 was held here yesterday. The topic for discussion was Seekho aur Kamao and other skill development initiatives of the Ministry. The Meeting was chaired by Dr. Najma Heptulla, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs and co-chaired by the Minister of State, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
The skill development scheme for minorities viz. Seekho aur Kamao which provides for ensured placement based skill training was discussed at length in the meeting. Further, the skill Development component under Multi- Sectoral Development Programme which envisages that at least 10% of the allocation given to the State would be earmarked for activities related to skill training to minority youth was also discussed.
The Committee was also informed about the upcoming scheme Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development (USTTAD) and launching of Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills (MANAS).
The members who attended the meetin are Shri Abu Hasem Khan Choudhary, Shri Anwhar Raajhaa, Shri Asaduddin Owaisi, Shri E.T. Mohammed Basheer, 5 Shir Idris Ali , Shir M.I. Shanavas( From Lok Sabha) and Shri Joy Abraham, Shir Mohammed Adeeb.( From Rajya Sabha)
