Country Focus- China Opens with Screening of 'Finding Mr. Right'

The Country Focus-China opened here today with the screening of film Finding Mr. Right at Kala Academy.Directed by Ms. XueXiaolu the film is about a city girl travelling to Seattle to give birth to the son who is going to help her win over her rich married boyfriend. But when she arrives in Seattle nothing goes right.She is stuck sharing her house with two other pregnant ladies and has trouble reaching her boyfriend.She ends up romancing with her driver who is the opposite of everything she ever wanted in a man.

Earlier, Shri Tong Gang, Vice Minister State Administration of Press Publication Radio Film and Television of Peoples Republic of China, Chinese actor Tony Leung Chinwai, actress Zhang Ziyi, director Ms. XueXiaolu, ShriBimalJulka, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcastingand Festival Director lighted the inaugural lamp.

Speaking on the occasion,ShriBimalJulkasaid that at the 45thIFFI a strong step has been taken to bring energies of both the nations together by showcasing some of the best films from China. It is imperative to appreciate each others work, he added.

Referring to Indo-China Audio-Visual Co-production Agreement signed on 18th September, 2014 in presence of Indian Prime Minister and Chinese President, the Secretary said, this agreement aimsat encouraging audio-visual content collaboration amongst both the countries. Both India and China have been blessed with rich traditions and culture and have a vast pool of resources. Be it pre-production, production, post-production, special effects, marketing or distribution, both the countries can benefit with each others expertise and market opportunity. It is now time to join these creative forces and create content which can cater to both the countries.

Immediately after the inaugural ceremony, the Indo-China Joint Working Group went into meeting on the sidelines of the festival to further discuss the implementation of the Indo-China Audio-Visual Co-Production agreement.
