Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana

The Government has introduced Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana for feeder separation, strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution system including metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumers and rural electrification with a scheme outlay of Rs.43033 crore during the entire implementation period in 12th and the 13th Plan. Schedule of completion of the projects under the scheme is within a period of 24 months from the date of issue of letter of Award by the utility. The scheme of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana has been subsumed in the new scheme. This was stated by Sh. Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
