Dr.Nandita Chatterjee takes over as new Secretary(Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation) Comes with experience of working in urban sector and international organizations Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu bids farewell to outgoing secretaries

Dr.Nandita Chatterjee today took over as the new Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA). Her last assignment was as Member-Secretary, National Commission for Women.

Dr.N.Chatterjee, an IAS Officer of 1980 batch belongs to West Bengal Cadre and has served in different capacities in the state and central governments and international organisations like the UNDP and WHO. She holds Masters degree in Economics from Calcutta University and Masters in Development Economics from the University of Manchester, U.K. She also holds Doctoral Degree in Sociology and Anthropology.

Dr.N.Chatterjee served as Collector of 24 Parganas and Hughli districts, Excise Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer of Calcutta Metropolitan Development Authority besides being Secretary(Urban Development) and School Education in the Government of West Bengal.

Dr.N.Chatterjee also served in the Government of India in the Ministries of Rural Development and Environment & Forests. She also has served for over six years in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and World Health Organisation(WHO). Her last international assignment was as Capacity Development Advisor, UNDP in Afghnistan.

Minister of Urban Development and HUPA Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu today bid farewell to outgoing Secretary(UD) Shri Shankar Aggarwal and Secretary(HUPA) Smt.Anita Agnihotri, who were posted to other Ministries on January 31, 2015. The Minister thanked both of them for their work in respective ministries and wished them success in their new assignments.
