Electronic Data Interchange and Trade Facilitation System
More than half of Indias Ports and Customs point are yet to be covered by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Trade Facilitation System. 135 customs sites are under EDI. These 135 sites generate more than 90% of the Customs Revenue and account for more than 98% of import-export declarations.
Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), Ministry of Finance, Government of India has launched Single Window project as part of an action-plan to adopt paperless platform for regulatory clearance of import-export.
This was stated by Shri Jayant Sinha, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
