Entrepreneurship Culture in Rural Areas
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that the Finance Minister in his Budget speech (2014-15) made an announcement on 10th July, 2014 for setting up of a Start - up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) for encouraging rural youth to take up local entrepreneurship programmes. Accordingly, the Ministry of Rural Development has recently launched a SEVP Scheme to provide support for start up to 1 crore village enterprises and to provide direct employment to 2 crore people. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Rudy said, in the first phase of validating concept, SEVP is expected to support creation and strengthening of about 1.82 lakh village enterprises in 125 Blocks across 24 States including Jharkhand in the targeted four years i.e 2014-2019. This is expected to create employment for about 3.78 lakh persons.
