As per the extant policy, the State Governments are required to bear the deployment charges of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) deployed in their states. While the special category states viz. North Eastern states, J&K and Himachal Pradesh are to bear 10% of the cost of deployment on account of deployment of CAPFs in their states, other states are required to bear full cost. In the extant policy of Government of India, there is no provision to waive off the deployment expenditure of the CAPFs in the naxal affected states.

Recently, a request was received from Government of Chhattisgarh for exemption of cost of deployment charges for 9 years with effect from 01.07.2007. The request was examined in the light of the existing policy of Government of India and regretted vide Ministry of Home Affairs letter dated 19.11.2014.

This was stated by Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju in Lok Sabha today.
