The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Sarbananda Sonowal has said that all Schemes of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Sports Authority of India are inclusive schemes and students, who are desirous of taking part in national and international sports competitions, are also eligible for the facilities, available to other sportspersons, under various schemes.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Sonowal said, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports provides assistance to the National Sports Federations including Association of Indian Universities and School Games Federation of India under the Scheme of Assistance to NSFs towards conduct of national championships in India, conduct of international tournaments in India, participation in international sports competitions abroad, conduct of coaching camps, procurement of sports equipments, etc. Data of student beneficiaries year-wise and State/UT-wise are not maintained.
