Hunar Haat" being Organized at India International Trade Fair 2016

The Ministry of Minority Affairs is organizing the Hunar Haat" Exhibition to promote the traditional crafts/arts being practiced by minority communities under the brand USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Crafts/Arts for Development) throughits Central Public Sector Enterprise viz., National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), at India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2016 from 14th -27th November, 2016. For this purpose, Hall No.14 of Pragati Maidan, India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), New Delhi has been booked for about 100 stalls.The total project cost is about Rs. 1.74 Crore and out of that Ministry has already sanctioned an amount of Rs. 1.08 Crore.Over 180 craftsmen/artisans, including the National/ State awardees belonging to the Minority communities from different parts of the country have been invited to showcase their traditional skills and promote their crafts/arts and sell their products. This platform of Hunar Haat at IITF would provide an opportunity to minority craftsmen/artisans to establish global market linkages. Sufficient space has also been kept for the purpose of audio-visual publicity of the schemes and programs of the Ministry and its attached bodies.

 

This Information was given by Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the Minister of State (IC) for Minority affairs, in reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
