Improvement of 42 new National Highways in Madhya Pradesh

The Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Chemical & Fertilizers Shri Mansukh L. Mandaviya informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply to a question today that 42 number of highways aggregating to 8052 km have so far been declared as National Highway in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

He said that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) are taken up for improvement of newly declared National Highways. Based on the outcome of the DPR, the construction work is taken up in a phased manner depending upon availability of fund and inter se priority. The Minister informed that the works for 4299 km length of National Highways have been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 21646 Cr so far, which are in various stages of progress.

 

He further informed that the Pipariya-Hoshangabad section has been in-principally declared as National Highway. Detailed Project Report is likely to be completed by 31st March 2018 and based on the outcome of the Detailed Project Report, the section may be considered for declaration as National Highway and further development.
