Indo-Singapore Cooperation in Defence Sector
India and Singapore have been cooperating in various areas in the defence sector with the objective of enhancing bilateral defence relations between the two countries and to learn from each others capabilities and experiences. An Agreement on Defence Co-operation has been signed with Singapore in November, 2015, which has replaced the previous Agreement on Defence Cooperation signed in October, 2003. The salient features of the new Agreement, inter-alia, include regular bilateral Defence Ministers Dialogue, exchange of high level visits, institutionalized mechanisms of interactions, cooperation in the area of co-production and co-development, maritime security cooperation, joint military training and exercises, cooperation in search and rescue, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. This information was given by Minister of Defence Shri Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde and others in Lok Sabha today.
