The first ever Visitors Conference to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan will commence tomorrow (November 4, 2015) with an interactive session between Industry and Academia, exchange of 44 MOUs and lectures by eminent persons.

Participants in the interactive session will include Shri Sumit Mazumder, President, CII; Ms. Shobana Kamineni, Vice President CII; Prof. SK Sopory, Vice Chancellor, JNU; Prof. Devang V. Khakhar, Director, IIT-Bombay and Dr. Swapan Bhattacharya, Director, NITK-Surathkal.

Lectures will be delivered by Nobel Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi, Bharat Ratna Prof. CNR Rao and India's foremost agriculture scientist Prof. MS Swaminathan.

44 MoUs for cooperation will be exchanged between Industry and Academia in the presence of the President.

The President has in the past three years, convened annual conferences of Central Universities, NITs, IITs, and other institutions. These have been merged into a single three day 'Visitor's Conference' this year to create synergy amongst all central institutions of higher learning.

The agenda for the three day Conference includes (a) improving the quality of higher education in institutions to bring them at par with the top institutions of the world; (b) capacity development of faculty; (c) engagement of institutes of higher learning with community and society for sustainable and inclusive development and (d) promotion of gender equity and cultural inclusion through higher education.

Participants in the conference include all heads of Central Universities, IITs, NITs, IISc, Bangalore, IISERs, IIITs, NIPERs, NIFT, IIEST, Shibpur, RGIPT, Rae Bareli, RGNIYD, Sreperumbudur and School of Planing and Architecture Bhopal and New Delhi.
