Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) & Parliamentary Affairs emphasized to give priority to development agenda" regarding progress of poor, weaker sections and minorities to defeat any form of negative agenda. He was speaking during launch of Interactive Voice Response System of National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) and inauguration of annual conference of its State Channelising Agencies here today. Shri Naqvi said that Governments commitment is to empower minorities socially, economically and educationally and to take agenda of trust and development" among them. The Ministry is moving forward with this commitment successfully, he added.

Shri Naqvi said that effective implementation of welfare schemes aimed at development of minorities is more important than announcing new schemes. The Government is making all out efforts to effectively implement the schemes at ground level. Schemes such as Seekho aur Kamao", Nai Manzil", Nayi Raushni" are guarantee of empowerment of minorities. Besides this, minorities are also getting benefits from other Central Governments schemes such as Make in India", Skill India", Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojana", Mudra Yojana", Ujjwala Yojana".

Shri Naqvi said that any negligence in implementation of welfare schemes for minorities will not be tolerated. The schemes should not remain on papers; they should be visible on the ground. Government officials have a crucial role to play in this regard. They will have to go to the people on the ground level, there should be proper monitoring so that benefit of every welfare scheme reaches even to the last person of the society.

Shri Naqvi said that more concerted efforts are required for creating awareness among target groups about the schemes and programmes of NMDFC. Awareness Camps can be organized for the purpose.

There is a need to simplify the procedures, reduce waiting time for sanctioning of loans. AADHAR & KYC norms for selection of beneficiaries, self-attestation of certificates by applicants and Direct Transfer of Loan in the bank account of beneficiary are some of the steps taken by NMDFC to make implementation of its schemes more transparent and hassle free for the beneficiaries.

On the occasion, a toll-free number to provide information regarding programmes and schemes of NMDFC was launched by Shri Naqvi. He also released first Urdu edition of NMDFCs magazine Parwaz".
