Manufacturing of drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) are licensable from Defence angle as per the notified Defence Products List and legally permitted to be manufactured in the country for military application.
The Public Notice issued by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on 7.10.2014 does not permit launch of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) / Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for civil applications by any non-government agency, organization, or an individual in Indian Civil Airspace, for any purpose whatsoever, till DGCA formulates the regulations for certification & operation for use of UAV / UAS.
