Manufacturing of Shipping Equipments
Manufacturing of equipments and other ancillaries for shipbuilding is intrinsically linked to the growth in the shipbuilding volumes in the country. Under the Make in India programme a number of initiatives have been taken for augmenting the shipbuilding volumes. The main measures include approval of a new Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Policy, recommendation for grant of Infrastructure status for stand alone shipyards, introduction of Right of First Refusal to the Indian shipyards for procurement and repair of vessels required by government departments and agencies including PSUs for governmental or own use. It is expected that with growth in the shipbuilding volume, the manufacturing of ancillaries including shipping equipments and machineries would increase.
