The Minister of Food Processing Industries Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal met the Ambassdors/High Commissioners/representatives of the countries viz. UAE, Germany, France, Poland, Australia, Italy, Netherlands, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, Canada, China, New Zealand, Brazil, USA, UK, Russia, Japan, Malaysia & Belgium today and explained to them the vast opportunities that have arisen in India for foreign food retailers and food manufacturers as a result of the recently announced 100% FDI in trading, including e-commerce, in respect of food products manufactured and/or produced in India.

She also explained the vast opportunities available in India in the food processing sector under the Make in India initiative launched by Honble Prime Minister and the spate of reforms being carried out in India leading to ease of doing business and India emerging as one of the most favourable investment destinations.

Smt.Badal also shared that Ministry of Food Processing Industries would be providing hand-holding and facilitation for all foreign investors who would like to invest in the food processing sector in the country. The Ambassadors, High Commissioners and the representatives of the different countries actively participated in the discussions and while welcoming the policy initiative of the Govt. of India, they voiced certain concerns which were duly answered by Honble Minister, FPI, Secretary, FPI and Secretary, DIPP.

The Minister also briefed them about the vast opportunities existing in the Mega Food Parks in India wherein the foreign investors could set up their units immediately and take advantage of the 100% FDI in trading of food products manufactured and produced in India.
