A draft National Medical Commission Bill is under consideration of NITI Aayog. The proposed National Medical Commission shall have four boards, viz. Under-Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), Post-Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), Medical Assessment And Rating Board (MARB) and Board For Medical Registration (BMR). UGMEB and PGMEB shall determine and prescribe standards and oversee all aspects of medical education at undergraduate and postgraduate level respectively. MARB shall determine the process of Assessment and Rating of Medical Educational Institutions as per the standards laid down by the UGMEB and PGMEB.
The Minister of State (Health and Family Welfare), Sh Faggan Singh Kulaste stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha here today.
