DG, NDRF present at the site to personally supervise the search and rescue operations
Mammoth multi-agency operation at the site of train accident at Pukhriyan in Kanpur is continuing since morning. 05 search and rescue teams of NDRF are relentlessly engaged to extricate victims, trapped in the mangled bogies of Patna-Indore Express.
The NDRF teams consisting of trained responders and equipped with state-of-the-art CSSR equipment and tool, carrying out non-stop search and rescue operation. NDRF responders are cutting the bogies with the help of latest gadgets and tools to make access to the victims. In addition, Canine squad and technical squad are simultaneously being used to locate the live victims by Search and Rescue teams of NDRF.
Shri R. K Pachnanda, DG NDRF is present at the incident site to personally supervise ongoing search and rescue operation with other senior officials of NDRF.
Due to prompt response by NDRF, 54 passengers including 16 critically injured have been rescued and 31 bodies retrieved from the mangled bogies of derailed train so far. The operation is still in progress.
A 24x7, NDRF Control Room is monitoring the situation round the clock and in touch with Railways Authorities and local civil administration to render any kinds of assistance.
