North Eastern Council and Alliance Air Sign MoU for Connectivity in NER

North Eastern Council (NEC) signed a MoU with Alliance Air, the wholly owned subsidiary of Air India, on 24th September, 2014 for flight operations in the North East under Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme of NEC. The MoU was signed in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, New Delhi, by Shri V.B. Pathak, Joint Secretary, Development of North East Region (DoNER) and by Shri Anil Mehta, COO, Alliance Air in the presence of Gen. VK Singh (Retd), Minister for DoNER and Shri Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, Minister for Civil Aviation. Also present at the signing were Rohit Nandan, CMD, Air India, V Somasundaram, Secretary, Civil Aviation, Rajiv Takru, Secretary, DoNER and other senior officials.

Under the MoU, North Eastern Council will provide subsidy based on viability gap (cost minus revenue) to Alliance Air for flight operations to connect Shillong, Tezpur, Lilabari, Silchar with Kolkata/Guwahati till March 31, 2016. The agreed schedule for flight operations, subject to modifications on mutually agreed terms to meet public interest, is -

KOLKATA-SILCHAR-TEZPUR & V.V. 3 DAYS A WEEK (from 10 Aug 2014)
