The National Foundation for Communal Harmony, an autonomous organization with the Ministry of Home Affairs. In partnership and collaboration with the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, a series of competitions are organized from 19th to 23rd August, 2014, in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalays (JNV) which are residential schools run by the Samiti all over the country. This collaboration is being started with a view to promote the ethics of communal harmony, universal brotherhood, fraternity and peace among different sections of society, by organizing essay/short story competition and painting competition at school level amongst junior students (Class VI to VIII) and senior students (class IX to XIII).
Prize winners at various levels will be given cash prize along with certificates. The first, second and third prize winners at the National Level will be given a cash prize of Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,500 respectively in each of the categories viz. essay/short story writing and painting. It is proposed to distribute the awards at national level in a function at Delhi during the Communal Harmony Campaign Week from 19th to 25th November, 2014.
