Under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP), pollution abatement works amounting to Rs. 62.02 crore for Nasik and amounting to Rs. 11.64 crore for Trayambakeshwar were sanctioned and completed. Against these, sewage treatment capacity of 100 Million litres per day (mld) in Nasik and 1 mld in Trayammbakeshwar has been created.
The Bombay High Court in its order dated December 19, 2014 had directed the Union of India to take appropriate decision on the proposal submitted by the State Government for release of one time financial assistance for Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar during the year 2015-16 as expeditiously as possible and preferably on or before February 28, 2015. The State Government in its letter dated May 15, 2014 addressed to the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission (Presently NITI Aayog) has requested for central assistance against a master plan of Rs. 2378.78 crore.
This information was given by Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Prof.Sanwar Lal Jat in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
