The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to His Excellency Mr. Rajkeswar Purryag, Honble President of the Republic of Mauritius on the eve of its Independence Day (March 12, 2015).
In his message to President Purryag, President Mukherjee has said:
On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to extend warm greetings and felicitations to you and to the friendly people of Mauritius on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Mauritius.
Excellency, this day is not only significant in the history of the political struggle for freedom of both our countries but also symbolises how both India and Mauritius uphold the values of democracy.
We recall with great affection your State Visit to India in January 2013 and my visit to Mauritius in March 2013, which contributed to further enhancing our extraordinary and unique bilateral relations. India and Mauritius enjoy a deep and special relationship based on our historical ties of kinship and shared cultural heritage. I am confident that our close bonds will continue to strengthen in the years ahead to the mutual benefit of our peoples.
Please accept, Excellency, my best wishes for your good health, success and happiness, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Republic of Mauritius.
With the assurances of my highest consideration.
