A Mega Camp for Distribution of Aids and Assistive Devices to Divyangjan and Senior Citizens under ADIP & Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana will be organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India at Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) on 11th February 2018. The camp will be held at Jiwaji University Ground, Gwalior where aids and assistive devices will be distributed to Divyangjan and Senior Citizens in the august presence of the President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind. This will be the first ever Mega distribution camp to be graced by the President of India.
Smt. Anandiben Patel, Governor of Madhya Pradesh; Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh; Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana; Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister Social Justice & Empowerment and Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Rural Development Panchayti Raj & Mines will grace the occasion by their presence.
4271 number of pre identified beneficiaries, out of which 2436 Divyangjan under ADIP Scheme and 1835 Senior Citizens under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana will be provided with 8108 aids and assistive devices in the Gwalior camp at a total cost of ?288.72 Lakhs.
Major aids and assistive devices to be distributed under ADIP Scheme are Motorized Tricycles- 119, Tricycles Conventional- 762 ,Wheelchairs-277, Crutches- 1236 ,Walking Sticks-327, Brail Cane -34, Brail kits -36, Brail Slate- 19, Hearing Aids- 742, Rolator- 38, Smart Cane- 127, Smart Phone- 50, ADL Kit -26, Cell Phone -26, Daisy Player -30, MSIED Kit- 268, Callipers -324 etc.
Under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana, major aids and assistive devices to be distributed are Walking Sticks- 1089, Wheelchairs- 250, Hearing Aids- 773, Crutches- 14, Tripod -417, Tetrapod- 197, Walker Foldable- 03, Denture Complete- 45, Denture Partial- 40, Spectacles- 806 etc.

Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh has taken an initiative to become the first Divyang Mitra district of the country. The objective is to facilitate Divyangjan of the district with their needs of day-to-day living and generate other avenues for their socio-economic development.
The camp is being conducted under the ADIP Scheme and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana of Govt. of India. The ADIP scheme has been in operation since 1981 and has been revised with effect from 1st April 2017. The main objective of the scheme is to provide latest and modern aids and assistive devices to the Divyangjan to promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation and to enhance their economic potential. ALIMCO being the major implementing agency under the ADIP Scheme, conducts camps regularly across the country for distribution of aids and assistive devices to Divyangjan and Divyang Children With Special Needs (DCWSN) under the ADIP Scheme and ADIP-SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) programme. Amongst these, the camps where number of beneficiaries is more than 1000 and the value of aids and assistive devices is more than Rs. 1 crore, are called Mega Camps. The Ministry has so far conducted 281 such Mega camps in the last 4 years and the current year. Two Mega Camps had recently been conducted on 3rd & 4th February, 2018 at Rampur and Gorakhpur (UP) respectively. The camp at Gwalior will be the 282nd Mega camp.
Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana was launched in the country in December 2016 for providing assistive living devices to Senior citizens belonging to BPL category. First distribution camp under the Yojana was held at Nellore (A.P) on 1st April 2017. ALIMCO is the sole implementing agency of Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY). During the last one year, 20 such camps have been conducted by ALIMCO and 29764 senior citizens have been provided assistive living devices under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana. The camp at Gwalior will be the 21st camp.
With a view to maximize intended benefits to Divyangjan and Senior Citizens, AAPC-Jabalpur Unit ALIMCO has conducted assessment camps of Divyangjan and Senior Citizens residing in Gwalior district with the focus is to cover maximum population of such persons specially from distant rural areas. The assessments were conducted with full support from District Administration, Gwalior and Indian Red Cross Society, of Haryana & Madhya Pradesh States. The Assessment camps were conducted up to Block level at 11 locations in Gwalior district during the period 12th December, 2017 to 25th January, 2018 in which a total of 2436 beneficiaries (Divyangjan) have been registered for providing aids and assistive devices under the ADIP Scheme.
Concurrently, assessment camps for Senior Citizens belonging to BPL category were also conducted at 8 locations in Gwalior district from 23rd to 28th January, 2018 by deputing four teams of AAPC- Jabalpur unit of ALIMCO. A total Number of 1835 beneficiaries (Senior Citizens) have been identified in these camps for distribution of aids and assistive devices under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana.
