Biennial Elections to the Council of States from NCT of Delhi and Sikkim and bye-election to the Council of States from Uttar Pradesh.
The Commission has announced biennial elections to Council of States from NCT of Delhi and Sikkim vide Press Note no. ECI/PN/96/2017 dated 22.12.2017 to fill the four vacancies to be arisen on 27.01.2018 and 23.02.2018 respectively.
In the said Press Note, after para 6, the following para shall be added.
7. Further, the term of office of the members to be elected to the Council of States from the National Capital Territory of Delhi shall be subject to the decision of the Honble Supreme Court in SLP (C ) No. 17123/2015 (Election Commission of India Vs Devesh Chandra Thakur & Others)."
