Press Release of Ananth Kumar, Hon'ble Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers on the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of RCF-BPCL Sewage Treatment Plant at RCF Plant, Sion, Mumbai on 14th November, 2014.

Shri Ananth Kumar, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India laid the foundation stone for construction of RCF - BPCL Sewage Treatment Plant on 14-11-2014 in the presence of Honble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis. Secretary (Fertilizers) Government of India Shri Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, IAS, Shri Rajiv Yadav, IAS, SS & FA, Shri R.G.Rajan, Chairman & Managing Director, RCF & other dignitaries were present.

Addressing the gathering, Honble Union Minister Shri Ananth Kumar congratulated the Management and the Staff of RCF for initiating action for preserving nature and saving of water through this project. The Honble Minister said that he is proud of RCF for moving forward in the directions of the Honble Prime Minister appeal and Visionary Project Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. The Minister further said that special priority will be given for Thal III Project in Maharashtra including granting of Navratna status to Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF). Honble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis assured the active participation of Government of Maharashtra in welfare schemes for farming community being activities taken up by RCF.

RCF-BPCL STP Plant is a sustainability development project as it will treat waste sewage generated in the city and convert it in to treated water adopting latest technology having designed capacity to treat 22.75 Million ltr. per day of municipal sewage. This will produce 15 Million liters per day treated water for the use. This project is first of its kind being set up by two PSUs located nearby. The estimated cost of project is 200 crores. This project will be completed within 28 months from the award of contract. RCF is already operating one STP Plant of similar capacity for last 15 years and new STP Plant will double the generation of treated water from sewage.
