Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) Kanpur, a Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry and engaged in manufacturing and distributing various types of assistive devices for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) is not manufacturing electronic artificial limbs in its factory at Kanpur and other Auxiliary Production Units at present.
On 03.12.2014, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Non-Disclosure Agreement have been signed between ALIMCO and Ottobock of Germany. The MOU will lead to Transfer of Technology by Ottobock after technical evaluation/feasibility to ALIMCO in the field of Lower Extremity Prosthetics, when the technology is transferred to ALIMCO, in the field of Lower Extremity Prosthetics, better Prosthetics will be made available at affordable prices.
