On the occasion of Republic Day-2015 the President of India has awarded one President's Tatrakshak Medal (PTM), five Tatrakshak Medals(TM) Gallantry and three Tatrakshak Medal (Meritorious Service) to the Indian Coast Guard Personnel for acts of conspicuous gallantry and distinguished/meritorious service.
President's Tatrakshak Medal (Distinguished Service) has been awarded to DIG Vijay Digambar Chafekar TM. Tatrashak Medal for acts of Gallantry have been awarded to Assistant Commandant Nikhil Hebbale, Paresh Mahanta, Uttam Sahayak Engineer(R), Jitendra Singh and Uttam Navik (RP). Tatrashak Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to DIG Sharad Mantri, DIG Thekkumpurath Prabhakaran Sadanandan and Commandant Harish Hemant More.
The awards are being given to the Coast Guard personnel on Republic Day and Independence Day every year, since 26 January 1990.
