The Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Dr. Najma Heptulla will visit Chennai on Saturday, the 22nd November, 2014. She will inaugurate the Regional Office of National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) in Chennai. The Southern Regional office of NMDFC will cover the Southern States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Puducherry besides Tamil Nadu. The Regional Office of NMDFC will be reaching out to the Self help Groups (SHGs) in these states effectively and will also co-ordinate in implementation of skill development training programs of NMDFC & Ministry of Minority Affairs in the region. This initiative will bring the schemes of NMDFC and MOMA closer to the beneficiaries.
Dr. Heptulla will also inaugurate Skill Development Training Centre of Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills (MANAS) at Anjuman Industrial Training Centre, in Chennai tomorrow. The training centre will tie-up/ collaborate with the training centers' in the region & take-up training in trades currently in demand, locally.
The Minister of Minority Affairs will address a seminar on 'New Initiatives of the Ministry of Minority Affairs' and preside over the signing of MoUs with Sector Skill Councils. She is scheduled to hold a Press Conference Chennai in the afternoon tomorrow. With the setting up of MANAS under the Ministry for Minority Affairs, skill development training will be provided to the minority youths with assured placement of the trainees in the industry or in setting up of self employment ventures through concessional credit line of the academy & NMDFC. MANAS has been established as an ambitious & overarching development architecture. It is expected to provide all India training framework with tie-ups with national/ international training organizations under PPP model, imparting Training In skills currently in demand. MANAS would identify & develop traditional arts /crafts / trades of minorities which are languishing due to globalization & technological advancement. The Academy has plans to restore & preserve 'Hamari Dharohar'. The MOUs are being signed by MANAS with Councils for Leather, Logistics, Media & Entertainment for conducting training programs in these trades in Chennai.
