Rescinding of announcement for bye-election from 72-Lohardaga (ST) Assembly Constituency to fill vacancy Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand - regarding.
The Commission had announced bye-election from 72-Lohardaga (ST) Assembly Constituency to fill vacancy in the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand vide its Press Note No. ECI/PN/60/2015 Dated 21st October, 2015. The date of poll of the bye-election in Jharkhand is on 21st November, 2015 and counting is on 24th November, 2015 Now State Election Commissioner, Jharkhand has informed that 3-Tier Panchayat Elections has already been notified in Jharkhand 8th October, 2015 and the elections are being conducted in four phases in Jharkhand on 22nd & 28th November, 2015 and 5th & 12th December, 2015 and the counting dates are 6th, 13th, 19th December, 2015. It has been requested by State Election Commissioner to reschedule the bye-election of 72-Lohardaga (ST) Assembly Constituency as the schedule coincides with the schedule of Panchayat Elections and also due to administrative reasons.
Having considered the matter, the Commission hereby rescinds its announcement of bye-election from 72-Lohardaga (ST) Assembly Constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand made vide its Press Note No. ECI/PN/60/2015 Dated 21st October, 2015. A Separate schedule for holding a bye-election from 72-Lohardaga (ST) Assembly Constituency will be announced at an appropriate time so that the process of bye-election is completed before 22nd December, 2015.
