The Government and Major Ports propose to optimally utilize the lands vested with the Ports including Mumbai Port.
Ministry of Shipping has constituted a Committee for Development of Mumbai Port Eastern and Western Water Front and Ports Land for the following.
(i) Preparation of a vision for Development of the Eastern Water Front and Western Water front in Mumbai Port Jurisdiction with focus on city needs and decongestion of transportation modes,
(ii) Strategy for Development and Rejuvenation in line with Supreme Court Judgment of 2004 and 2006.
(iii) Advise on legal bottlenecks and introduction of new legal provisions, and
(iv) Suggest Institutional mechanism for implementation.
All the ports have been asked to prepare their Master Plan and to study optimization of operations and maximization of profits.
