Schemes for Education

As per Unified District Information System for Education (U-DISE), 2015-16 the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) at primary, upper primary, secondary, and higher secondary level is 99.21%, 92.81, 80.01% and 56.16%, respectively. As per the report of All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) for 2015-16, GER in higher education in the age group of 18-23 years is 24.5%.

To ensure elementary, secondary, and higher education to children, the Government has launched several schemes such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid Day Meal, Strengthening of Teachers Training Institute, Schemes for Infrastructure Development of Private Aided/Unaided Minority Institutes (IDMI), Mahila Samakhya, Strengthening for providing quality Education in Madrassas (SPQEM), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Inclusive Education for Disable at Secondary Stage (IEDSS), Incentives to Girls at Secondary Stage, National Merit cum Means Scholarship, Financial Assistance for Appointment of language Teachers, Adolescence Education Programme, Opening of Girl Hostel, Model School, Information and Communication Technology at School, Vocationalisation of Secondary Education, Saakshar Bharat, State Resource Centre (SRCs), Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSSs), Teacher Education, Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), National Initiative for Design Innovation, National Research Professorship (NRP), Establishment of New Central Universities, National Tribal University, World Class Central Universities, Degree Colleges in Educationally Backward Districts, Incentivizing State Governments for expansion of higher education institutions, Interest subsidy on educational loans taken by students from economically backward sections to pursue technical/professional education, Supporting uncovered state universities and colleges, Strengthening science based higher education and research in university, Inter universities research institute for policy and evaluation, Scheme of Apprenticeship Training, Support for Distance Education & Web Based Learning (NPTEL) and Technology Development Mission.

This information was given by the Minister of State (HRD), Shri Upendra Kushwaha today in a written reply to a Rajya Sabha question.
