Secretary I&B and Secretary AYUSH co-chair meeting with Broadcast Industry representatives for International Yoga Day on 21st June
In a major initiative to enhance the outreach, popularity and encourage participation of the people on the occasion of the International Day on 21st June, 2015, Secretary I&B, Shri Bimal Julka and Secretary AYUSH, Shri Nilanjan Sanyal co-chaired a meeting with representatives of the Broadcasting industry including Industry bodies, seeking their proactive participation in popularizing the event across various platforms in the broadcasting domain. Both Secretary I&B and Secretary AYUSH emphasized that the proactive participation of the Industry bodies represented by NBA, IBF, CRFI, FCSR and representatives from Digital Cinema would ensure enhanced coverage , content and reach across News, GEC, Digital, CRS and Radio platforms. Both emphasized that the collaborative effort would also reinforce the vision of the Hon'ble Prime Minister and UN endorsement of observing 21st June as International Yoga Day for the first time. This would also enable the event having an international impact with the focus on Yoga being a People's Movement.
Representatives from the Industry Bodies promised to proactively participate in promoting the event while at the same time providing and broadcasting content free of cost. Representatives mentioned that content would be sourced in the form of spots featuring popular TV artists on GEC platforms, messages endorsing the relevance of Yoga. These spots would run across the Broadcaster's network on both News and GEC segments. The Industry representatives also agreed to take forward the content created by the Ministry of AYUSH on their platforms pro bono. It was also agreed to popularize the Yoga initiative on News platform on the News Segment through Special programmes, Discussions and studio-based events. It was also agreed that the events associated with International Yoga day would be covered appropriately. Representatives of the Industry from the Radio and Digital Cinema and Community Radio stream also offered to take the advocacy efforts forward through their network and distribution platforms.
