The Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) AT Pune in collaboration with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Army conducted a two weeks course on Independent Directors for high ranking defence officials who are on the verge of retirement to enable them to take up senior positions in the Civil industry.
The course was inaugurated by Mr M S Unnikrishnan, CEO & MD Thermax, Brig Rajiv Divekar (Retd) Director SIMS and Dr Harnita Chowdhary, Professor and Program Director, SIMS on 07 Oct 2014.
The course was conducted from 07 Oct to 20 Oct 2014 and was designed with due care and thought to give the participants a holistic knowledge and perspective on the role, charter and duties of an Independent Director as well as of the various facets of company laws, acts, finances and governance issues. The participants were taken through the syllabus by an experienced faculty included guest talks by top corporates which gave them insights into the practical aspects. Dr A P Ghosh, Internationally renowned faculty and Certified Corporate Director (World Council, London) was the key faculty.
The Chief Guest for the Valedictory function was Mr Anant Sardeshmukh, Director General of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA).The function was presided by Padma Bhushan Dr S B Mujumdar, President and Founder Director Symbiosis and Chancellor Symbiosis International University and graced by Dr Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director Symbiosis Society and Dr Rajani Gupte Vice Chancellor, Symbiosis International University.
