Setting up of Institutions
Total number of premium institutions in the country are -18-IITs, 4-IIITs, 12- IIITs in PPP mode and 19-IIMs. During the remaining period of XIIth Five Year Plan, 4 IITs, 7 IIITs in PPP mode and 1 IIMs are going to be established.
At present following institutions are functioning in North- Eastern Region- IIT Guwahati, NIT Agartala , Silchar, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, IIM Shillong, IIIT Guwahati and IIIT Manipur. During the remaining period one IISER in Nagaland and one IIIT in Tripura are going to be established.
