Shaida Moh. Abdali Afghanistan Ambassador Calls on Union Agriculture Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh

Afghanistan Ambassador, Shri Shaida Moh. Abdali today met Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Radha Mohan Singh. He expressed thanks to Government of India for extending cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. Shri Radha Mohan Singh informed him that India has taken keen interest in conducting training programmes to share its expertise in agricultural techniques, infrastructure for the benefit of Afghanistan. India has imported agricultural products valued at 207.5 million US $ where as its exports were of the order of 60.94 million US $ during the year 2013-14. Both the countries agreed to explore possibilities in further strengthening bilateral cooperation, research work, infrastructure and technology.

Shri Abdali suggested that both the countries may jointly organize seminars/workshops and farmers of both sides may participate in them so as to find out scope for sharing knowledge and experience in technologies, cooperatives and packaging industries. Shri Abdali mentioned that as per public opinion poll, people of Afghanistan rated India as No. 1 in matter of mutual trust. He expressed hope that National Agricultural University in Afghanistan would get necessary support in research work from India. He also mentioned that Afghanistan looks forward to sharing India's experience in respect of climate change, packaging of fruits like apple, pomegranates and grapes etc.

Shri Radha Mohan Singh assured him of all cooperation in this regard and told him that an official level meeting between the two countries will be organized soon.
