Shilpotsav provides opportunity to the artisans for interaction with potential buyers and exporters says Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment

The Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot visited Shilpotsav the annual fair of artisan from across the country here today. Congratulating NBCFDC, and all the Apex Organizations, NSFDC, NHFDC, NSKFDC, National Trust, NISD the Minister said that Shilpotsav provides an opportunity for creating awareness among the general public and the target group in particular about the variety of activities pursued by the beneficiaries under various schemes of Apex Corporations and National Institutes. It also spread the message of poverty alleviation through concessional finance and marketing linkages.

The Ministry further added that in addition to providing social justice to the people through economic empowerment, that Finance Corporations are doing their best to provide marketing platform to the artisans.

The Minister also said that such events provide information about developmental programmes and opportunity to the artisans for interaction with potential buyers and exporters.

Training to artisans in skill upgradation is another area where Corporations are required to put their efforts to identify the training needs of the artisans and arranging best possible training to these people. The training will help these people in competing with their competitors based in India and abroad the Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment added.

Buyer Seller Meets are being organized during the Shilpotsav inviting Export Houses and Government Departments dealing in export oriented activities.

The Minister also expressed his happiness at the way National Institutes under the Ministry had showcased their products and services in an informative manner.

The range of products in this fair includes - silk sarees, durries, readymade garments, terracotta product, jute products, dress material, kashmiri shawls/stoles, leather, cane & bamboo products, hand embroidery, bead products, pearls, imitation jewellery, lakh products, decorative candles, wood carving, block printing, wooden toys, tie & dye, wood, marble artifacts, handloom etc.

Also present on the occasion were Shri Sudarshan Bhagat Minister of State, Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri Sudhir Bhargava, Secretary, Social Justice & Empowerment, Smt. Stuti Kakar, Secretary, Deptt. of Disability Affairs and Officers of the Ministry and all the organizations.
