The Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Shri Kalraj Mishra inaugurated Coir Board pavilion at Pragati Madidan today.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister said Indian Coir Industry carries legacy of 150 yrs. A traditional industry, earlier confined to Kerla now spreads over 22 states including North East. Coir Board provides financial and technical assistance for setting up coir units and entrepreneurship development. More than 4000 units are proposed to be provided with financial assistance during 12th plan period through various schemes, he added.
Shri Kalraj Mishra expressed hope that in coming days coir industry will play a significant role in economic development and providing jobs to our youth.
