Shri Narendra Singh Tomar Inaugurates KIOCL's Pellet Auditorium

Union Minister for Mines, Steel, Labour & Employment, Sri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated KIOCLs renovated Pellet Auditorium during his visit to the Corporate office of KIOCL Ltd. in Bangalore today.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister emphasized that KIOCL has done pioneering work in the field of iron-ore mining and beneficiation of magnetite ore in the State of Karnataka and has been a leader in the country for Pelletization. He further added, State Government of Karnataka must consider allocation of a captive iron ore mine to KIOCL on priority basis. Union government is giving thrust on increased utilisation of pellets as a raw material in the blast furnaces of integrated steel plants in the country. The pellets are converted out of iron ore fines and beneficiated low grade ore, which are abundantly available in mine heads. KIOCL, being a pioneer and a leader in the pelletisation industry can contribute immensely in utilizing these resources in the national interest.

CMD, KIOCL Shri Malay Chatterjee thanked the government for timely intervention in securing the Operation & Maintenance contract from NMDC for its upcoming 1.89 Mt beneficiation and 1.20 pelletisation plants in Donimalai mines in Karnataka. This will facilitate KIOCL in gainful utilization of its technical manpower and open up new vistas of opportunities for securing similar contracts in future and demonstrate its Pelletization capability for the nation, he added.
